- For the original VHS releases, the audio tracks for the first three episodes were remixed to accommodate the NICAM stereo upgrade from episode four onward. There are additional, albeit subtle sounds such as environmental soundscapes added to outdoor scenes. These remixed audio tracks are available on some of the earlier PAL DVD sets, with the 20th anniversary edition from Universal reverting back to the originally broadcast audio tracks.
- The original version of this episode had the opening credits superimposed over the first scene where Mr. Bean drives to the examination hall. The remastered version removes these and adds the opening titles sequence first used in "Mr. Bean Goes to Town" to the beginning.
- When first released on VHS in 1991, the episode had a red title card with "THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF MR. BEAN" crossfaded with the opening scene. The original 1999 DVD reissue of "The Amazing Adventures of Mr. Bean", as well as at least one British VHS compilation from 2004 including this episode, omitted this and instead faded straight into the opening. The 2002, 2005 and 2009 DVD releases containing the episode, however, were transferred from the master used for the VHS, and thus had the first two seconds of the theme song playing over a black screen before abruptly cutting to the opening scene.
- The version of the episode on the 1998 Laserdisc compilation "Mr. Bean, Vol. 1", a compilation of the first four episodes, features the standard "street" intro (as used in all episodes since "Mr. Bean Goes to Town"), retypes the end credits in a similar-but-different font and adds an America-specific copyright screen to the end.
