The Spy that came from the airport...
FlorianLaur26 June 2018
In this episode, Dave and Maddie are getting involuntarily involved in the international world of espionage after David's latest idea of debt collecting sort of back-fires when it gets them into their latest case...

I really like the set-up for this episode. It feels like one of those spy thrillers of the 70s or 80s and the two story lines(about the spy and about our duo) are crossing half way through the episode. Unfortunately, the episode becomes a bit too "jokey" for me in the last 8 minutes, but I can forgive that for the great first half and the still pretty decent car chase. Maddie and Dave once again argue about how to do things or what makes a case a case(is a client necessary?). We get some funny scenes and jokes and a nice scene of Dave/Bruce singing "My Girl". What more can we ask for?

I give this episode an 8. It reminded me of the classic Starsky and Hutch episode "The Set-Up".

Warning: Spoilers
In their new capacity as bill collectors The Blue Moon detectives blunder (do they operate any other way?) into a case of espionage.

I have a weakness for stories about innocents caught up in espionage, especially funny ones. So I may be prejudiced. I only wish it were a full movie.

This is the episode with the famous Dr. Seuss-ian wordplay. And a rather too conventional and even predictable conclusion (if you've seen "The Great Race" you understand). But it's funny and well-timed. This is the sort of episode where we're glad they took the time to get it right.

Cybill looks lovely and the young Bruce is at the top of his game. This episode is the reason we loved the show way back when.
