- [first lines]
- Person on Tape: [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. Miguel Fuego, Premier of San Pascal, and his nephew, Ramone Fuego, who will one day succeed him to power, have secretly signed a nuclear arms treaty with a hostile power, calling for the installation of nuclear missiles in San Pascal, aimed at the eastern United States. Such an act would trigger another Cuban crisis. Only public exposure of the treaty before the missiles are installed will avert a confrontation that could lead to war. Your mission, Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to get that treaty. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.
- [last lines]
- [Paris slips out the secret passage with the treaty and closes the door before others arrive]
- Colonel Rodriguez: Ramone, this has all been a hoax. Now put the gun down so we may talk.
- Ramone Fuego: And I suppose the bastion has been a hoax. And my father... and Sanchez.
- Premier Miguel Fuego: Your father?
- Colonel Rodriguez: There is no one named Sanchez.
- Ramone Fuego: Sanchez, tell them what we've seen this afternoon... Sanchez?
- [Ramone turns and finds nobody]
- Ramone Fuego: The treaty.
