At the start of the episode, Briggs receives his instructions not via a recording, but printed on the back of a business card. Of the episodes which show some sort of instructions being given to the IM Force leader, this is the only one that doesn't involve a recording.
The "unnamed" country is supposed to be Hungary. All the shop signs - the guard room door sign and advertisement posters are in Hungarian. Also, the traditional Hungarian instrument, the "cimbalom" is heard/played several times.
As he selects his team for the mission, Briggs tosses Rollin Hand's photo into the pile of rejected team members instead of the "selected" pile. While Rollin does not take part in the actual mission, he does appear on the show.
GoodTimes Home Video released this one "Mission: Impossible" episode and no others on VHS. As there's no on-screen episode titles for this series, they gave it on their packaging the title,; "Butcher of Balkans." Aside from the fact that the official title is "Memory," this (the nickname of the enemy country's intelligence officer whom the IMF has been assigned to eliminate) should have been rendered as "The Butcher of The Balkans."
