Excellent and exciting; a classic-style MI adventure
shakspryn17 June 2019
In Seasons 6 and 7, the show focused on dealing with criminals in the USA, with few foreign trips. This saved on costs by not having to "create" so many foreign (usually East European) countries, but a negative side effect for many fans is that we got so many stories about fighting "the syndicate," that is, organized crime. It was a case of "geez, the Mob again???" In this episode, we get a welcome change, as the MI team tackles a tough traitor who wants to betray USA defenses. Kevin McCarthy does a fine job as usual, as the bad guy. Unspecified East Europeans (read: Russkies) are unflinchingly portrayed as ruthless and evil. No John Le Carre-style moral murkiness here! With our MI team set at four in Seasons 6 and 7, Willy often gets more to do than in earlier seasons, both action and dialogue. Lynda Day George again shows that she is a very good MI team member. To me, she's very believable as an intelligence agent. Peter Graves and Greg Morris are outstanding, as they usually are. Fans of MI will enjoy this one. The episode structure is a bit different than usual, but in a good way. Get out the popcorn!

Urgent mission interrupts Phelps' date
CCsito24 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILER ALERT*

This episode opens with Kevin McCarthy, a defense analyst gone rogue, stealing nuclear defense information by murdering a military officer and the hiring of an assassin to prevent his sale of the information to the Eastern European country. Phelps is on a date and is interrupted to take on the task of recovering the stolen information to prevent the US from being exposed to a nuclear attack. The team kidnaps the analyst and then tricks him into thinking that a day has already passed and that the US has been invaded by the enemy country as a result. The IMF team stages mock trials of US prisoners in order to induce the analyst to divulge the whereabouts of the stolen information that was meant to be passed to a contact from the enemy country. However, the assassin comes across their fake studio where they are holding the analyst and tries to complete his mission there. Barney and Lisa play fake American prisoners while Phelps and Willie play East European military officers.
