Max Wall plays Ernie Dodds who is released from prison after 14 years for a bank robbery.
Arthur and Terry meet him outside prison which they have arranged with a bent prison officer called Spencer. However Arthur is lumbered with paying for Ernie's expensive tastes. He wants new clothes and stay in a fancy hotel.
Ernie promises to pay Arthur back once he retrieves his loot. The proceeds of crime were deposited in another bank account.
However Ernie discovers that the money is no longer in the bank. The previous bank manager ran off with it and is now thought to be dead.
Arthur also discover that there are other people including Kate Grundy (Rula Lenska) the daughter of Ernie's former partner, a corrupt retired policeman and Spencer who all want a share of the loot.
Max Wall steals the episode as the cantankerous Ernie Dodds who never quite remembers Terry's name.
Somehow the episode fizzles out. It lacks a threatening presence, it's just has a lot of sinister and greedy people hanging about. I always thought that somehow Ernie will suffer a setback when he tries to retrieve his money.
