This episode starts moments before the previous one ended; but this time we see what happened inside the lighthouse. Crockett, still thinking he was Burnett, recognised Tubbs as a cop and ordered his men to deal with him. Tubbs managed to escape leading to the police deciding that Crockett was now one of the bad guys. It isn't just the cops who are after Burnett; El Gato still wants him dead and his underling Cliff also wants to take over the business. After an attempt on his life nearly blows him up his memory starts to return and he returns to the police station where he is promptly arrested... if he want to clear his name he will have to escape and bring down the organisation he was running!
This was a great conclusion to the amnesia story line although it is a pity it wasn't combined with the previous episode to make a double length season opener. There was plenty of action to be enjoyed including a couple of spectacular explosions. The two main bad guys; Cliff and El Gato were suitably villainous although the latter did come across as somewhat of a pantomime villain at times. The ending is unlikely to be much of a surprise but it was most satisfactory and darkly amusing. Once again Don Johnson does a fine job portraying Crockett; believable depicting his return to being one of the good guys. On the strength of this opening story I'm optimistic that the final series of 'Miami Vice' will be well worth watching.
