Emmett is secretly having hair treatments from Mayberry's barber- Earl (character actor Allan Melvin, "The Phil Silvers Show", "The Brady Bunch"). Emmett is concerned about his thinning hair and Earl talks him into buying a toupee. Martha is upset that Emmett spent $125, even though he only confided in Sam. When the toupee arrives, the hair is sculpted wildly and a nervous Emmett is forced to secretly go to La Petite Beauty Salon for Sally (Joanie Larson) to work it into "the Glen Campbell look". The reactions may not be what Emmett had hoped for.

Excellent Paul Hartman episode.

Emmett Clark (Paul Hartman) looked humorous but good with his toupee. Totally changed him looking like another person. Good to get back to the main core of the cast who have provided so much strong comedy after two dud episodes.
Great no Alice Ghostley or Buddy Foster to drag down the comedy. Good to see TAGS staple Allan Melvin as dropped out of the sky barber Earl. Also, Ruth Thom an Aunt Bee antagonist from TAGS.
So very ironic that Ken Berry appears to wear a toupee. He's younger than Paul Hartman so it appears less obvious on him. But, with closer examination it's almost as comical as Emmett's. Nice pretty Millie (Arlene Golonka) scenes shining up the screen.
