Guest star Steve Garvey, playing himself, was a longtime MLB first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1969-82) and for the San Diego Padres (1983-87). Garvey was the 1974 National League's Most Valuable Player Award winner, a two-time National League Championship Series MVP (1978 and 1984). Garvey is also a 10-time All-Star, and twice was named MVP of the All-Star Game (1974 and 1978). Garvey set a National League record with a whopping 1,207 consecutive games played, (September 3, 1975 through July 29, 1983). Garvey retired from baseball in 1987.
