Who's Shallow Now
Hitchcoc20 February 2017
Mary begins going out with a handsome ski instructor. He is more than handsome; he stops conversations when he comes into a room. Along the way, she begins to realize that they have nothing in common. All he can talk about is skiing. Soon, everyone is in on the act. Phyllis is totally stunned. Lou warns her that this guy is no good for her. Ted is jealous. Nothing bad ever happens, but Mary starts to really be bored. But he is incredibly charming and it's hard for her. On another subject. In the last episode, Mary was put in jail for not revealing sources. She is out on bail. Technically, she is still under arrest. Will this plot line appear again?

A really good looking guy
Rrrobert8 November 2019
Mary dates a breathtakingly handsome guy who draws plenty of awed attention (and reactions) from the regular characters. However Mary soons realises they have nothing in common and the relationship is a little dull - except for the physical attraction.

I don't usually love the 'dating' episodes, but this one leaves out the mawkishness and is filled with great comedy and good lines.

Mary's beau Paul is played by the striking Robert Wolders who ended is acting career in 1975 and had long running relationships with Merle Oberon, then Audrey Hepburn, then Shirlee Fonda.

Phyllis, Bess, Sue Ann and Georgette all appear. Phyllis and Bess are seen only in Mary's apartment and don't share scenes with the other regulars.

Can Mary possibly have a romantic relationship without somehow involving everyone she knows ?

Warning: Spoilers
This show episode threatens to be an annoyingly-silly episode at first, but it actually turns-out to be a pretty-good and pretty-funny show after-all !

Mary has been dating a decent guy 'Paul' that also happens to be very good-looking international ski instructor. The two of them are both pretty-happy,and they enjoy spending some time together.

Not really that-much of a story,right?

Surely there are no worries or problems in sight for them, right?

Not so fast,Dear Reader !

...Enter,stage left... Whom ?... ...Every person that Mary knows and works with !

Mary has brought this new guy Paul around her workplace and her home several times, and consequently everyone she knows has formed an opinion about this man Paul. All of Mary's friends and co-workers have chatted back and forth about Paul and they've come to a consensus. Nobody wants Mary and Paul to be together. The men are all jealous of the guy,the younger-women all 'want' him,(and of-course we also never have to worry-about the delightful Sue-Ann Nivens having problems when it comes to getting-along with men!) Everyone,in their own-way,ends-up telling Mary (for their own personal and mostly-selfish reasons) to dump Paul as a boyfriend.

With all this going-on in the background, Mary then goes to meet with Paul somewhere to deliver the 'final brush-off' to Paul.

.. But... why ?!

The two of them,Mary and Paul, are getting along just-fine and enjoying themselves. There have been no real problems of any-sort.

Should Mary really break-up with a decent guy just-because her 'friends' tell her to? ( Like sometimes can happen in real-life? 🤡 ) Will Mary bother to ask Paul what exactly he thinks about all of this?

Will this boyfriend Paul ever be seen or even mentioned again after this episode?

Check it out and tell us what YOU think ! 🌞 I liked this,I give it 9/10.
