A Diet to Die For!
Sylviastel22 April 2009
Thanks her new neighbors and friends, Peggy gets inspired to take a diet program called Thinnergy. The problem is that all she wants is attention from her husband and being on the diet alone isn't going to work out. Once Al is on the diet, he can persuade to get her off. This is the first episode after the pilot. It's not as funny as others but Al is a meat and potatoes man and the idea of fruits and vegetables isn't up for his taste buds. If it wasn't for his new neighbor and sudden friend, Steve Rhoades, he encourages him to go on the diet with his wife so they can get off together. All Peggy wants is a little attention and love from her husband. Still, it's not a bad episode overall.

A Dysfunctional Diet For a Dysfunctional Couple!!!!!!! Warning: Spoilers
------- THINNERGY!!! -------

A Dysfunctional DIET For A Dysfunctional COUPLE!!!!!!!

------- ------- -------

Well, maybe I'm being a little unfair with the diet, we don't know if it had a fair amount of protein planned inside its hard regime despite the fact of being apparently based mostly on green veggies like cole, a little bit of cole and yes...also some cole. THE MAIN POINT HERE IS SEEING THE BUNDYS TRYING TO BECOME HEALTHIER OVERNIGHT BECAUSE OF A BOOK THAT MARCY RECOMMENDED TO PEGGY MAINLY TO SPICE UP HER LOVE LIFE WITH AL...Peggy is quick to use the book "THINNERGY" to try to change the diet of the whole family. Kelly was also quick to get alarmed:

--- "This could be the end of life as we know it"----she says "clairvoyantly" to Bud.

Steven, Marcy's husband and the closest thing to a voice of equanimity we have in the show, advises Al to follow the diet along with Peg for a week so they can quit the diet together:

---TOGETHER is the key word, Al---- says Steve, trying to help his friend.

Peg and Al suffer some more days with their new diet having an increase in their couple fights, as their tolerance to veggies dramatically decreases...good thing their diet seemed to work improving their love life... ...as soon as they left it, HAHAHA!

Seems like the dysfunctional diet worked for the dysfunctional couple...now you understand why " A minus times a minus equal a plus"...your middle school teacher wasn't so crazy after all (not in math anyway).

Thanks for reading.

Eat all your veggies... ... with lots of steak, chicken or fish OK? (or at least lots of tofu :) :) :) )

I like how al doesn't want to have sex with peg. They should make this a recurring theme

Thin on genuine laughs.

I have to say that I was very disappointed with the pilot episode for Married With Children Season One, and episode two isn't much of an improvement. I'm sure they'll get better, but I wonder whether that'll be this season, or a couple down the line (judging by Christina Applegate's hair, I'm thinking that I originally joined the show a few seasons in).

This one sees Peggy taking Marcy's advice and putting Al on a special diet that she hopes will increase his energy (thereby putting a bit of 'oomph' back into their sex life). Again, I found the jokes rather weak and the laugh track off-putting (I don't mind canned laughter when the gags are good, but here they're just not that funny).

Oh well... sometimes a show takes a while to hit its stride. Hope it's not too long.
