The name of the tag on Al's shirt is Habib, which would later be an inside joke on the show.
Al Bundy, who spent all his money on gas, has to work off his debt at the gas station for $12.00 worth of snacks that his family didn't pay the cashier for. Minimum wage in Illinois (where the Bundys reside) was $4.25 an hour in 1992 when this episode was filmed. Al would only have to pump gas for two hours and fifty minutes to pay back the $12.00.
