Studio equipment visible, lol
backup-5036215 February 2023
My favorite thing about this episode, is that for no reason whatsoever, there's a scene (when Kelly fire extinguishes the couch) where there's studio lighting equipment FULLY, ENTIRELY visible right behind Kelly.

It's not one of those briefly-visible overhead microphone situations, like in almost every Friends episode, but an entire studio light and those umbrella things they use to reflect light, like, clearly visible. For a while.

I gotta wonder how that happened, and how come everyone else in the world seems to have blocked it out, lol.

Oh well, interesting trivia aside, this is yet another great episode. It's even cooler that we actually have different, unique settings in this one, and a guest star from the aforementioned, much worse Friends show.

Kelly meets Mad Mary.
BA_Harrison25 December 2022
Bud and Kelly pretend to be ill so that they don't have to go with their parents to a family reunion in Wanker County. Kelly brings a date home, who drops his cigar on the couch, setting it on fire. With the help of Jefferson, the kids are able to track down the only other couch in that style, still in the possession of the maker, who just happens to be totally insane.

Mary the mad couch designer (Larry Hankin) should have been hilarious, but although he delivers the best line -- "This is from my Furniture for White Trash line, the Drunken Hillbilly collection." -- his crazy routine isn't as funny as it could have been. The wackier the better, in my opinion, but although there was plenty of scope to push the silliness much further, this one fails to do so.

I had hoped that whatever Kelly had to do to get Mary to part with his couch would be funny enough to compensate, but that also failed to tickle me.

A mediocre episode.
