A classic Buck episode
gridoon20247 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Buck was overdue for an episode dedicated to him. The series was ignoring him lately almost as much as his family is. In this episode, he has had enough and decides to run away from home. But he is captured as a stray dog and put in a cage, and the Bundys must find him within a week or he will be put away. That is, IF the Bundys even realize that he is missing! This episode contains some of the funniest moments in the history of the series (Al bringing back "Buck", the "Lassie" theme, "She wanted something she could be comfortable in. I told her, try Wyoming! Now, I don't know when they allowed women to carry chainsaws...."), but the most fascinating little tidbit may be the show's first camera shot of "the fourth wall" - the Bundys have a cozy little nest after all! *** out of 4.

Buck is fed up with being neglected by his owners so he leaves home only to find himself caught and thrown into the dog pound soon after. The other mutts inform Buck that if he isn't collected within seven days, he will be put down.

Meanwhile, Al wins a raffle to be the guy who oils up the first girl at the nudie bar's 'Wrestle Till You're Raw' night. When the Bundy's finally realise that Buck is missing (after six days), Al must forego the nudie bar event to help find his dog.

I've found previous Buck-centric episodes rather forgettable, but I enjoyed this one a lot, largely thanks to the other hounds that Buck shares scenes with, including a bloodhound who plays harmonica, a buck-toothed poodle (that sounds like Jerry Lewis?), a boxer who speaks like Mike Tyson and another dog with hair like Don King. I also really enjoyed Al's comments about the fat women who visit his shoe store and the part where Al, desperate to get to the nudie bar, claims to have found Buck, presenting the family with a tiny dog that looks nothing like their missing mutt.
