Two Men About The House?
Yonilikka-2225 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The flat's lease is up for renewal, and Roper promptly increases the rent by £25.00. Unable to pay the extra amount, Robin and the girls decide to bring in another lodger ( to share Robin's room ). The girls favour 'James' ( John Flanagan ) while Robin senses an opportunity to inveigle into the flat his girlfriend 'Linda' ( Alison Hughes ). To get rid of James, Robin pretends to be gay...

First, the good news. Jo is back. Now the bad news. No Larry. John Carlin's camp barman is finally named - Percy. We've seen Linda before; in 'Never Give Your Real Name', Robin was prepared to marry her as he thought she was pregnant. Either she forgave him for withdrawing his offer of marriage or this is a different Linda. Alison Hughes also played 'Maddie' in 'I Won't Dance, Don't Ask Me'. John Flanagan, who plays 'James', is a good actor who deserved better roles than he got. In 1978, he teamed up with Maureen Lipman for a terrible I.T.V. sitcom called 'A Soft Touch' which was a well deserved flop.

Funniest moment - Mildred shocked on hearing Oscar the budgie uttering an expletive ( which we never hear ).

Robin using a smart phone?
jmacca58-uk19 July 2021
Robin sits at the kitchen table using what looks like, for a moment, a smart phone. He tells Jo what the square root of 123 is. It's the 70s of course and pocket calculators were the thing to amuse yourself with. Ask me a question Robin says to Jo. What's the capital of Nicaragua? It doesn't do geography he says. Give it another 20 or 30 years Robin and that calculator becomes a smart phone with everything at your fingertips.
