Looking Up for 5TH Season
aramis-112-8048805 October 2022
A vast improvement over the 5th season opener as it requires no historical research, which the writers are unwilling, unable or unqualified to do. But it's not an opening I like, depending as it does on coincidence.

A Bulgarian scientist given a new identity by the Phoenix Foundation follows her runaway dog to an abandoned amusement park to witness someone shot dead in a deal about museum-piece jewelry.

McGyver teams with a bounty hunter (a wonderful Clevon Little, whom it's always good to see in action again).

Lots of suspense and chases and "how will they get out of this one" moments. But like the beginning it relies too much on coincidence. Cop out, you fools.

My guess is the writers became too lazy to write just as they're too lazy or stupid to do legitimate historical research.

Warning: Spoilers
Frank Colton is allergic to dogs ... for all of 10 seconds. Then he's not allergic any more!

Frank Colton says that the Black Corsage was recently owned by ... Cleopatra! She died in 30 BC, so this is a strange definition of "recent".

Frank Colton's sandwich is a fish fillet when he picks it up. When he puts it down, it is clearly a cheeseburger.

The villain conviently neglects to sit at the table with the best view, even though he thinks it's empty.

Sofia walks right past him, even though she runs into the server and makes lots of noise.

Sofia tears her dress on a nail sticking out of the door frame. The nail sticks out so far that it keeps the door from closing (which is illegal).

Sofia's dog tracks Sofia like a bloodhound, though he does not react when he sees her running down the alley.

Mac and Colton get to Expo Park before the villains, though they (should) have no idea that the villains are going there.

Mac picks a lock and cuts through wire with his Swiss Army Knife, which is impossible.

Mac takes off his shirt to prop a door open. When the villain kicks the shirt away, the door stays wide open.

Pete tells Sofia that she has to give up her dog (who somehow found his own way home and tracked her like a bloodhound) to Frank Colton. The Phoenix Foundation went to a LOT of trouble just to get Frank a dog!
