In Soviet-dominated Bulgaria, Mac meets Penny Parker for the first of many of his better episodes. He has to smuggle out material and it looks straightforward enough but Penny (Teri Hatcher, who never looked better than on "MacGyver") keeps sparking difficulties.
The hilarity Penny usually brings with her is muted when Mac's contact is caught and tortured. It's mild torture by KGB standards but it's instructive to anyone who thinks the US is a cockamamie terror state. Grow up.
Nevertheless, the episode's general tone is light, and any Penny episode is worth watching (from here, they only get better).
