We hardly knew ye Donald
safenoe31 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Donald is given the send-off, which is a shame as he made only two appearances (with two actors!). Also, Hawkeye attempts to end the war and he gets a cheering welcome when he returns to the 4077th.

Matters In Captain Piercer's Hands!!
ellisel23 July 2007
The opening clip of "Peace On Us" had everyone quite restless about the ongoing war. Colonel Potter gave everyone the disappointing news about the war trudging on mercilessly -- all because of inaction at Panmunjomb. Nothing was going well for everyone at the 4077th. Major Houlihan -- for a while -- had some good news during this trying time; she would met Donald Penobscott in Tokyo on a weekend ... much to the disgust of Captains Pierce and Hunnicutt during breakfast.

Corporal O'Reilly sent the mail into Major Houlihan's tent. Without warning, incoming choppers arrived at the 4077th for another round of surgery. From there, Captain Pierce was angry about the endless war during surgery -- all while tending to the other patients. The three of them acted in disgust after ten hours of surgery. Naturally, Colonel Potter had each of them wearing a smile to improve morale.

Towards the end of Act One, Colonel Potter had told the three surgeons in "The Swamp" they needed forty-five points to earn an honorable discharge from the Army. By the same token, Major Houlihan and Captain Pierce were kicking every item in the camp. She cried in humiliation because her husband transferred himself to San Francisco; Captain Pierce would drive to Panmujomb to tell the delegates to stop the war. Little to everyone's surprise, Captain Pierce arrived at the peace talks to tell the delegates to end this war. And at the same time, one of the United Nations Delegate Members had trouble with his gastritis.

In Act Two, everyone in camp held a party on behalf of Captain Pierce for speaking to the peace delegates. Everyone dyed their clothes and their hair in a cheery red color -- not the typical red color symbolizing blood from surgery and soldiers in the battle. Major Goss chastised Captain Pierce for his stunt he pulled at the peace talks; however, he did not act too harshly at him for his determination in treating his patient. After all, everyone wanted to go home from this endless war in Korea. The end result: A 10.3!! "A++"

The War Drags On
Hitchcoc5 April 2015
Hawkeye goes on one of those hard to believe missions. He invades peace talks. Margaret decides to divorce her two-timing husband. Considering there could never be something as dramatic as what Pierce does, he does it and they throw a party for him. One of his complaints is that everyone wears green. They all dye their hair read and wear red clothing. Potter looks like a leprechaun. Sometimes the get so caught up in the anti- war thing that they kind of jump the shark. It's interesting, generally, how much partying goes on in this place. Hawkeye and his attitude are really on display here. I just didn't like this episode.

Flimsy premise
kevintbriner30 April 2019
I get that it's a fictional TV show oh, but they really over do the poetic license of what would really happen in that situation. Unfortunately the show became about the actors and directors politics more than being about the characters.

Misdirected Anger
athompsonblue19 July 2023
This episode is definitely one of the worst of the pacifist propaganda. I'm glad Charles called out Hawkeye on this holier-than-thou grumbling.

Why does Hawkeye spew so much resentment at the UN brass and delegates? It's not their fault that North Korea invaded and won't let up! Does HE want to try negotiating with communist zealots?

The episode would have worked better for me if Hawkeye directed all his anger at the North Korean / Chinese side. If they would just give up the peninsula, he could go home!

Having Margaret kick down the door was a nice, dramatic touch. And I like her run-in with Hawkeye, where they're both fuming over their own problems.
