Charles Sows His Wild Oats
Hitchcoc15 April 2015
Winchester returns from a conference, obviously having overdone it. He has no recollection of his activities, but there is evidence he was involved with a woman in some way. The guys find a couple rolls of film and decide to have it developed. Also, there is an epidemic of Korean Hemorrhagic Fever. This is a disease which shuts down the kidneys and a loss of sodium and potassium. Patients literally drown in their own fluids. The doctors come up with a possible solution.

Back to the other plot: When the pictures are developed, it appears that Charles has married someone, and low and behold, an attractive woman from the Red Cross arrives in camp. The "marriage" had some interesting implications. The final scene is great fun this time.

Charles is wed (briefly)

Warning: Spoilers
I know some devoted fans prefer the early days where Frank Burns was the butt of everyone's jokes and hatred, but having Winchester on board meant this episode could be produced. It's hard to see how an episode like this could be written around Frank Burns.

My favorite episode
dianes-570-56570512 May 2024
This is my favorite episode! Margaret is a competent, level-headed, equal colleague. Charles becomes human. This episode could never be done in the Frank Burns/Hot Lips era.

My favorite part is Charles speaking to Donna as a fellow human being, with intelligence and humor. No accusations, no condescendion, just him trying to find out what he's gotten himself into. Just lovely! And the joke about the Charles River is very good.

The other plot could have been a whole episode by itself. It is well-written and well-acted and just what I expect of a later season M*A*S*H plotline. Highly recommended.

Is that a Texas Rangers Hat?
eyedoc_do9 April 2018
The hat Klinger is wearing looks like a Texas Rangers hat. If so, this is a major goof as the Rangers didn't come into existence until 1961, 8 years after the Korean War ended.
