The final scene shows Radar pretending to be a Doctor as he has ordered bed rest for Hawkeye. It is a rare sight to see Radar without a clipboard in his left hand. Gary Burghoff has a deformed left hand that he took great pains to hide during the run of M*A*S*H, yet in this scene he holds his left hand out in front of him but makes a fist as he takes Hawkeye's pulse even though he is not wearing a watch.
In the final O.R. scene, Hawkeye tells Radar "You're a good man, Tiny Tim." This is not only a jab at Radar's height, but also an in-joke referencing Gary Burghoff's performance originating the title role in the 1967 off-Broadway musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."
The popular tune that plays on the PA system is a Japanese version of "My Blue Heaven" called Watashi no Aozora. The first line goes "Yugure ni aogi miru kagayaku aozora" Japanese versions of this song are available on YouTube.
This was Lynnette Mettey's 4th appearance, but the second role she'd play in the show, as Nurse Sheila Anderson. She'd appeared as Nurse Nancy Griffin in Season 1. In all instances she catches the eye of Hawkeye's affections.
It was this episode that Wayne Rogers referred to many years later that he felt the series abandoned the ensemble approach and turned it into the Hawkeye show. He said that the episode could have featured his character Trapper instead of Hawkeye.
