Much Ado About Nothing
Hitchcoc8 March 2015
The 4077th is going to be honored by a visit from Douglas MacArthur. They are visited by an advanced team that sets the table for the visit. Hawkeye and Trapper do their usual juvenile thing while the guy is talking. It's interesting that knowing how important this is to the troops and to Henry, they can't let up a bit. But that's another issue. Of course, Frank takes it upon himself to plan the whole thing, Margaret is in perpetual drool mode. Radar gets all military and that's pretty funny. He decorates the General's quarters. Klinger is going to be a problem. They don't want MacArthur to see him. Henry does what he can, but the guy has his agenda. Anyway, after a trial run, the camp is ready. Or are they?

Robert Courtleigh as General Douglas MacArthur

Warning: Spoilers
The mystery is solved. Robert Courtleigh played General Douglas MacArthur in Big Mac. On March 15, 2022 it was confirmed on the superb M*A*S*H matters podcast that Courtleigh played the role of General Douglas McArthur. The podcast is hosted by M*A*S*H superfan Ryan Patrick and Jeff Maxwell who played Igor.

I like this episode, and now we know who played Douglas MacArthur.

This episode also marks the final appearance of Louden Wainwright III as Capt. Calvin Spalding.

Great episode!

Lots of funny scenes. Klinger and Hawkeye are great as usual. BTW, the "Spaulding" who filled in for Col Blake was Capt Spaulding (credits), the singer played by the "Dead Skunk in The Middle Of The Road" guy :)
