The Ultimate Practical Joke
Hitchcoc10 April 2015
Charles sets in motion a series of events when he begins to help Margaret get revenge for some tomfoolery going on. Meanwhile, a heroic helicopter pilot comes into camp and takes an interest in Major Houlihan. Once a small trick is played, Charles keeps working to set up more tricks. He is doing a Yojimbo, operating on both sides of the street. What people don't realize is that those doing the damage aren't aware that Charles is the center of all this. Charles has to be careful that people don't see him at the scenes of the pranks. Soon things start to get really cruel. A subplot is Father Mulcahy being passed over for promotion time after time. Even Potter can get no satisfaction from top brass. Finally, Margaret ups the ante.

Based on the famous David Odgen Stiers Attenborough joke

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is a prelude to the classic 11 season episode The Joker is Wild. Anyway, this episode is based on the famous prank that David Odger Stiers played on his M*A*S*H cast members, involving an unwitting Richard Attenborough. Quite hilarious seeing Hawkeye, BJ, Margaret and eventually Winchester being pranked!

Unfortunately Father Mulcahey doesn't get his much deserved promotion in this episode.

As the trivia point says:

"At this point in the series, Father Mulcahey has performed a tracheotomy under fire and twice risked his life to acquire badly needed drugs for the 4077th. Why he is repeatedly passed over for promotion remains a mystery."

So true, by now Father Mulcahy should have been a Colonel!!!
