This episode is based on two other characters from the D.C. Comics universe, Hawkman and Hawkgirl, who are destined through the centuries to repeatedly meet, fall in love, and die.
Third of four appearances of the time-traveling science fiction author H.G. Wells.
The whole episode is parody of Robin Hood and the character is called The Fox. This could be either a refers to the Disney version where Robin Hood is a fox or the term "The Fox" Could be borrowed from another legend named Zorro which is Spanish for "fox".
In the beginning when Wells is explaining to Lois and Clark the eternal lovers he says "Time after Time" Which is also the name of a 1979 movie where the main character H. G. Wells travels in time to stop Jack the Ripper.
