Everyone in Metropolis is clamoring for information about Superman and at the Daily Planet, Perry declares it open season, every reporter for themselves as far as getting the scoop on Superman's origins go. This pits Clark against Lois, and shows off the latter's competitive streak. Teri Hatcher's version of Lois Lane comes off as something less than a team player in these scenes and, memorably, Clark knocks her down a few pegs.
Superman is having a crisis of conscience following a series of "tests" organised by Lex Luthor (wonderfully played by John Shea) to figure out more about Metropolis' new favourite son. Innocent civilians are being put in danger by Luthor, and Clark openly questions whether he should retire the Superman suit before things get really out of hand. Dean Cain does a great job portraying a conflicted Clark.
