Three robbers go after stagecoach line executive Roy Barcroft at Sherman station and wound Barcroft and Robert Fuller. In his capacity as a deputy
sheriff John Smith goes after them. The three are Ken Lynch, Kevin Hagen,
and Jerry Summers.
Smith catches up with Summers but not before he's hidden the loot and shoots it out with him. But bringing the body back to town Slim Sherman discovers he's killed the son of Jeanette Nolan the widow who runs the local Ponderosa. She offers a thousand dollar bounty on his head. Only his deputy's badge from Laramie prevents most from trying to collect.
I think it's a given that all will turn out right in the end. But it's an interesting story. It also shows that Slim Sherman if provoked can get as nasty as Jess Harper usually can.
