The series tanked with this episode of improbabilities and never recovered. Creators ultimately failed this series by too often concentrating on possible, but unlikely enemies within Section at the expense of presenting a united front against actual enemies without. Maurice Hurley's script here is a pointless exercise in nihilism. Marilyn's betrayal of Section "Oversight" is absurd and morally repugnant. Oversight's employment of Hillinger as his "mole" in Section 1 is implausible. The smug rancour of Operations and Madeline against Oversight and the lack of mutual trust at Section's highest level is unaccountable and incredible. Another notorious example in dramatic television history of high-quality acting and production values irretrievably sunk by weak writing.
