When Gloria Steinem introduces herself to Bette at Bette's father's funeral, a picture of Gloria and Ossie Davis is shown, followed quickly by a picture of Davis with Bill Clinton. Ironically, in the wake of the MeToo Movement, Steinem received critique for the 1997 essay she wrote saying that Clinton's behavior towards women who accused him of misconduct was (in each case) only a "clumsy pass".
