James Shigeta returns for a Chinese adventure
kevinolzak17 June 2010
Season 3 Episode 18- This would be the last of the 5 third season episodes set in Imperial China, but the only one to take place after the death of the Emperor's nephew, Keye Luke's Master Po represented only through flashbacks of the incident from the original pilot. The distinguished James Shigeta had previously played a Shaolin master in the third season episode "The Garments of Rage," but here plays Colonel Lin Pei, leading an army of the Emperor's soldiers in pursuit of Kwai Chang Caine, while teaching the most ruthless of lessons to his youthful Lieutenant (Evan C. Kim). He again proves to be a worthy adversary to Caine, proclaiming himself a liar and a coward in his relentless pursuit of the priest. A pretty stranger, Po Li (Adele Yoshioka), comes to the assistance of Caine, offering to help guide him to safe passage (apparently West of China) into what is called the Forbidden Kingdom. The trusting priest is unaware that her brother, Po San (Clyde Kusatsu), is already a captive of the soldiers, to be set free in exchange for Caine, except that the treacherous Colonel has every intention of returning to his Emperor with all his prisoners. The relationship between Caine and Po Li remains an important one, as it provides the basis for the 1986 sequel, "Kung Fu." This entry was the first of two directed by Gordon Hessler, an expert on pacing, who had earlier proved himself working on Alfred Hitchcock's teleseries, and a few features done in England, such as "Catacombs," "The Oblong Box," "Scream and Scream Again," "Cry of the Banshee," "Murders in the Rue Morgue," and "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad." Clyde Kusatsu makes his fourth and final series appearance, while two others were new to this entry: the lovely Adele Yoshioka, best known as the neighborly beauty of Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry in 1973's "Magnum Force," while Evan C. Kim played Dirty Harry's partner in 1988's "The Dead Zone" (but I shall always remember him spoofing Bruce Lee in 1977's "The Kentucky Fried Movie"). Next up- "The Last Raid"

Finally is unveiled the last days of Caine at China!!
elo-equipamentos27 January 2024
Maybe the last episode which refers over the incident whereof led to accidental death of Imperator's nephew on China, reveling some crucial happenings there previously Caine leave the country toward America aiming for find out the whereabout of his half-brother, after the sadly event Kwai Chang Caine is running for a Chinese small Chinese troop in getting shelter a little Chinese village nearby, lead by the savvy Colonel Lin Pei (James Shigeta) that actually has two assignment, firstly arrest Caine and aftermaths takes back the already locked up a wealthy Chinese rebel Po San (Clyde Kasatsu) who refuses split his state on behalf of Imperator.

Meanwhile Caine looking around to find out a hidden place, randomly appears a beauty Po Li (Adele Yoshioka) offering aid to Caine reaching in outskirts thru a deep forest out of range of Colonel's troop, although it will be arranged later, he must keep at your house, actually Po Li is sister of the arrested Po San, thus the snitch woman offers to Col. Lin Pei Kwai Chang in exchange of his brother be let out, therefore the Cunning Col. Stays adamant, firstly Caine or no deal, side by side with rookie Lieutenant showing to him how dealing the matter with brain instead the power, lecturing him about the war there's no rules whatsoever, Back at home Po Li leading Caine through a dense grove arriving in a nearby borderline of the forbidden Kingdom, prior they must have a safe conduct from a older man who used to plant Bonsai tree, having a bulky cost guard which Caine finds him unbeatable whenever he tried hardly, anyway to reach at forbidden Kingdom Caine ought go toward river and there pay the boatman to cross the river, awkwardly Po Li provides help on more time....... Well as we already known James Shigeta already played a recent episode took place at China as well and also Adele Yoshioka will appears on Kung Fu the movie on archive footage only, sadly this episode was a blatant done carelessly due the "River" actually is a lake used in "Vanishing Image" worst in same spot, plus in early sequence we can see easily the vehicle tracks toward the main big tree, in the lake previously Caine disguised de small boat in half-size, out of the blue the same boat appears in another place totally covered up, Gordon Hesler should be more painstaking.

Thanks for reading.
