Lots of fun

Angel hair is wonderfully amusing, it has a great cast, lots of wit, with arguably a bit of a thin mystery. Jonathan has to investigate a crime, one of kidnap and ransom, or one of blackmail, he must answer how a woman's hair can grow long in a matter of days. Assisting him is Carla, played beautifully by Julia Sawalha, he also has a love interest in the form of the wonderful Tamsin Greig.

Jack Dee is great, as is Trevor Peacock who played his father. I think Renwick focused more on laughs then mystery in this one, and while it's not a patch on the Tailor's Dummy, it's still one of the best episodes in this series.

Great fun. 8/10

"How come his mouth doesn't move?" "Because he doesn't talk through his mouth"

More well known TV faces pop up here that are instantly, recognisable to home television viewers.

The TV anathema Brendan Baxter proves perpetually worthy of this moniker. In his preoccupation with focus groups and alleged opinion formers.

Despite apparent perceived opinions Brendan Baxter remains personally convinced. Of the inevitability of his spouse Carla Borrega, and Johnathan Creek as, the television Dream Team.

The philandering Dudley Houseman desperately seeks, the assistance of Johnathan Creek in his personal predicament.

Carla Borrega totally miss reads the moment with Johnathan Creek, and inadvertently gatecrashing his romantic rendezvous.

Meh

A married man is having an affair and his wife finds out. After the dust has settled he finds a video tape of his lover's kidnapping, delivered before she was thrown off the estate by his wife. It seems like his lover was trying to con him into handing over ransom money but who can explain how her hair grew back so quickly as it was clearly cut off in the video?

A fairly dull, uneventful episode of Jonathan Creek. Most tellingly, there's no murder or even really a major crime just a man wondering how his lover's hair grew back so quickly. Once I realised that this was the extent of the mystery for the episode my interest dropped dramatically.

There's a few light-hearted sub-plots to pass the time: Jonathan gets a girlfriend and she literally treats him like a dog, Carla takes a dim view of her gynaecologist after finding a rap CD in his office, Jonathan needs a puppet as a prop. Of these only the girlfriend one was reasonably interesting and then only because it featured Tamsin Greig as the girlfriend.

It's all pretty lame, like writer David Renwick couldn't be bothered about the quality for a week.
