Warning: Spoilers
In this, the second episode of the series, Joey plans to teach Michael how to pick up women, but Gina jinxes their night out out by coming along for the fun.

It all starts out like an episode of ''Friends'' really, the same laugh-out-loud comedy as the original series, in this episode: the local bar is really established as the hang out like Central Perk in ''Friends'', and we also get more insight in why Joey's sexy neighbour Alex Garrett is nicknamed the Note-Zi.

Joey does not save time showing his old self as we get to see his old doodle board from New York and a picture is shown of him and Chandler too on the coffe table.

Joey and the Student (#1.2)

Warning: Spoilers
Michael wants Joey to help him out with pick up women. Gina hangs out at their place all the time and she wants to go out with them but Michael doesn't want to, so she calls the bar to tell them he is under 21. They go to the bar together after and her and her and Joey give him lots of advices. At the end he picks up the girls that is a 5. And turns out that Alex is a super who sends Joey lots of messages on what not to do.

The episode is not too funny, but it has some great moments. Gina is especially the funniest character in it. It was also great how Joey was helping Michael to pick up with his knowledge of astronomy.

I don't know how Ale will be like, she is a bit annoying.

"Maybe someone here wants a woman from the 80's"

After a solid pilot episode it was interesting to see how the Joey spin-off would continue.

This is a good episode of the show, with a smart script by creators/exec-producers, Shana Goldberg Meehan and Scott Silveri, that sees Joey trying to teach Michael how to pick up women.

I thought the character of Gina was probably the funniest here, with Drea De Matteo having some great lines.

The 'Alex is the super' subplot was OK, and at this stage it looked like Alex could fill the 'friend' void for Joey, and that probably would've worked better long term than her being a love interest.

These early episodes of the spin-off show the direction the creators intended to go in, and it had potential. It's a shame that they'd later change direction and the potential be lost.
