The cases that important, historical documents like the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and the Emancipation Proclamation are stored in are as close to indestructible as possible. When on display in the National Archives in Washington D.C. these documents are stored within a special case that has temperature and humidity control, the glass is armored glass and can withstand a direct hit from a grenade or an RPG; it also has a layer of special UV filtered glass for added protection and is filled with helium to preserve the delicate parchment the document is printed on. Each night when the Archive closes, or in an emergency like an attack on Washington, an automated system lowers the documents down inside a specially made 50-ton steel vault, which is incased in several layers of concrete, additional steel and lead; the documents are also protected at all times by two armed guards who can trigger the vault mechanism at any time if they feel the documents are in danger. The vault is fire-proof, water-proof and is designed to withstand the Archives taking a direct hit from a nuclear warhead.
There were three finalists for the character Sarah Mackenzie who was played by Catherine Bell. One of the finalist was Sibel Ergener who would later play the recurring character Skates.
