The re-boot of "JAG" after the transfer from NBC to CBS
hindsonevansmike12 July 2018
The start of Season Two sees the arrival of the Sarah MacKenzie character (who called herself "Mac" on her first meeting with Harm in the White House Rose Garden). She would work alongside the Harmon Rabb character for the next nine seasons and 200-plus episodes.

Following the dropping of the fledgling series by NBC towards the end of its first season, Bellisario found a new home at CBS and the (15-episode) second season was commissioned. This succeeded in establishing an adventure-based theme and beginning the task of integrating the new characters into the ensemble cast which many of us had come to enjoy and appreciate during Season One.

This episode (just briefly) re-writes Harm's back-story (in flash-back mainly). This information is particularly useful in the matter of his lost love, because "Skeleton Crew" (filmed as the season finale for Season One but not shown at the time when NBC dumped the series in 1996) would not be seen until 1999 (sampled into the S3 episode "Death Watch") after it was caught up in the abrupt termination of the NBC deal at the end of Season One.

The interplay between the new leading pair is established and a new working relationship begins.

You could watch and enjoy this first episode of the re-booted "JAG" without ever watching the first (NBC) season (but you would be missing the Meg Austin-Tracy Needham first season and the Kate Pike-Andrea Parker original 1995 pilot).

And thus JAG Mark Two was born......

Introducing the best leading lady
jaggirl078 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is one of my favorites because we get introduced to Sarah Mackenzie aka Catherine Bell! Mac would replaced the other two leading ladies and I'm so glad she did! Andrea Parker and Tracey Needham just didn't do it for me not their characters!

Mac is a mystery at first and you see Harm conflicted right off the bat because she resembles his lost love! This already adds to the intrigue and begins the dance between our favorite leading couple!

We learn very early on that Mac has a difficult past and that is revealed right off the bat with her alcoholism! Their back and forth banter lead to funny moments and in the end they work together for justice to prevail! I loved this as we see new characters as well as new relationships form! Mac is a strong female character one we have never seen before she is harms equal and that is another impactful aspect as well!

This is where the show really takes off and becomes even more amazing.

How could they get rid of NUTMEG?!
cwade2214 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I call Her nutmeg because She was Spicy like nutmeg, but Her name is Meg. How can this Show go on without Her? She was the best female character on the show. And the only one Harm never dated. She was so sexy, beautiful, smart and Strong! I'm impressed at how Tracey needham was so convincing in this series. She is missed! Too bad CBS didn't have the show at the start. Nbc is known to cancel great series after 1 season. CBS actually has faith in series. NCIS and CSI are examples. It's a tragedy getting rid of Nutmeg. She was the Wonan that reminded me of How I could really like a woman. Reminded me of those deep feelings I used to have in middle school and high school for those special girls I had crushes on, but deeper. I don't know what Love is, but Meg/Tracey Needham made me want to be a better Man. Just from watching this series on tv, now, I never knew Who Meg was. I never saw the first season until now. Seeing Tracey Needham in a Her Uniforms and Sexy Dresses, I can't unsee it and I can't stop thinking of Her. Every time She'd walk away in Her Uniforms, it'd show Her booty and the Tight pants made it impressive. There's a lucky Man out there and it isn't me. Every time I'd see Her I'd wonder "Can I ever Have a Woman like that, one day?" A Woman I could be so amazed by and Who'd make me want to be a better person and who'd make me forget about everything except Her. Her replacement is attractive. But Tracey Needham/Meg had more than Her predecessor and Her replacement. And She was Great with computers! That's sexy! I'm not great with computers. Anyway, Tracey Needham is an actress who should've had more work. It's a tragedy Whomever decided to cut Her from the Show. They made a mistake. The show is weaker Without Her! I Miss Nutmeg!

major liability
sandcrab2774 December 2019
Right out of the box major mckenzie proves to be a bigger liability than an asset ... just think how much better it would be with tracey needham ... the producers had to sacrifice way too much to get the cbs green light ... catherine bell must have been bedded by someone from cbs to get this role .. . not to worry, it will get worse as the show rolls on

JAGnet

The intro to the show is awful. It reminds me of the television shows from the 60's and 70's. I'm glad I started watching the show from the middle of the series. If I started with season two the intro would have turned me off. I don't want to give a rating but if I did I would give the intro 1 star and 10 stars for the show.

"We the People"
allmoviesfan8 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Notable in JAG lore for being the first episode where Catherine Bell's United States Marine Corps Major Sarah 'Mac' MacKenzie debuts alongside season one holdover Harmon Rabb Jr, played by David James Elliott. After JAG was cancelled by NBC, it was picked up by CBS and ran for another nine seasons, featuring the DJE/CB combo all the way to the end.

In "We the People", the Declaration of Independence, is stolen by some disgruntled Marines (in what is a cool opening sequence) and Mac has a connection to the case, thus being handed the assignment by Steven Culp's Clayton Webb. Whilst Mac believes she is only Rabb's partner on the mission to return the Declaration, of course we all know better.

The only annoying thing about the season two premiere is that the season one cliffhanger isn't even mentioned. I mean, last we saw of Rabb was him being arrested for murder. Then, to start this season, he's getting a medal from President Clinton, and working with someone who looks a heck of a lot like the person whose murder he was arrested for (of course, both were played by Catherine Bell). Some continuity issues, but a good episode nonetheless.
