The start of ten years of interesting TV action

Warning: Spoilers
Part Two gave us closure on the storyline in part one of the pilot. Caitlin Pike's character developed throughout the pilot (but then the actress involved - Andrea Parker - won a five-year gig on "The Pretender", so she was written out and replaced, for full Season One, with Tracey Needham as Megan Austin).

Catherine Bell lay a year away in the future (via a little diversion in the rarely-screened "last NBC" episode entitled "Skeleton Crew", where she played Harm's murdered Academy girlfriend Diane Schonke).

The pilot two-parter closed satisfyingly. The mystery of the dead RIO is solved (wrong victim: the bad guy was trying to kill another female Tomcat flight-crew member). Some misogynistic tendencies are explored, Harm's past as a former pilot is revealed and we get to see some planes flying around and shooting things up.

This set the scene for ten years of JAG. In this 25th Anniversary month (September 2020), I can look back on this pilot and think "well done, Team Bellisario". Clearly the spin-off of "NCIS", in 2003, lay nearly eight years in the future at this point.

However, this show had something - and continued to endear itself to a solid fan-base over the next ten years.
