"General Butler" refers to Dale Dye's character as "Sergeant Major Hollis" when he first talks to "Lieutenant Rabb." Then "Captain Reed" refers to him as "First Sergeant Hollis."
Lieutenant Rabb keeps addressing Captain Reed as "sir", but he should not as they are of equal rank, proper procedure when speaking to someone of equal rank is to address them by their rank and/or name. The Air Force/Army/Marine Corps/Space Force rank of Captain is equivalent to the Coast Guard/Navy rank of Lieutenant. They are both paygrade O-3 and both wear the same collar insignia: double silver bars.
When Gen. Williams first arrives on the helo, he returns salutes twice even though he is not covered (has no hat on). The Marines and Navy do not salute when uncovered.
When Sergeant Major Hollis is describing the actions that resulted in General Williams being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, says that he flew three times to pick up his men, with the co-pilot and gunners dead, and having lost a leg. This could not be possible, since both legs are required to control the tail rotor of a helicopter.
