touching

Warning: Spoilers
Why and how did this episode touch my heart I literally have no idea. When it was over and Charlie got left out at the prom and started dancing alone I just couldn't stop sobbing. I don't know whether it's because it was 3 AM and I'm single and alone like Charlie or that the episode was actually that good..

The Best of Season 1
Samuel-Shovel13 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The gang becomes intertwined with a group of high school students after allowing them to drink in the bar so they can keep an eye on them. Soon, the gang is attending high school parties, dating 18 year olds, and attending prom.

This is my favorite of Season One and really encapsulates what the show is all about: controversial topics, great jokes, hilarious situations. Everything you want is in this episode and its a must watch for comedy fans.

"This is classic Tammy"

Warning: Spoilers
Easily one of the best of the season really feels like the first "Sunny episode". This is the first episode Dee really feels part of the gang besides being the wet towel. The premise is very memorable and I like this is one of the only times I've seen this many people in Paddys and of course they're underage. This is the episode they seem to call back on the most in later seasons I definitely see why, it's not amazing but it's great and one of the better ones of the season, easily the best so far.

The opening is hilarious with dennis realizing everyone's underage. The main plot is the gang decide to permit underage drinking at Paddys and they way the gang think it's their responsibility to have a safe space for underage kids to drink is pretty funny. We get the first time Charlie sniffs glue and it's with Mac. Dees plot is the best one so far with her dating a high school student and then not being able to go through with it still having a little soul left not like later Dee when she's giving everyone 0's on a dating app. Charlies outburst on the underage kid is great all of the gangs outbursts are amazing but my favorite have to be dennis, Glenn's acting in those scenes are amazing and we see glimpses in this season but we are nowhere near peak Dennis. The gang all dressing up I'm Tuxes always gets a smirk from me. The scene with Mac and Charlie deciding to get alcohol for the underage kids party because they suck up to them. It doesn't take much to make the guys completely 360 if you compliment them in any way. Dee getting drunk is a highlight we get a glimpse of Kaitlyn Olson's fantastic acting and later her physical comedy is always gold. Dennis plot with trying to figure out if the women are underage are not, it's very realistic and it's even harder to tell now a days. The gang going to the prom is also a highlight. These guys are always trying ways to relive their younger days and pretty much will do whatever other people say is they compliment them in some way. A great episode overall 9/10.

The episode that defines the show
zoradekugyorg4 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
During the first season every episode was based directly on a controversial issue. While most episodes still do this, it is not a focusing point. This episode focuses on underage drinking and dating.

The first season in most shows is usually a little rough and he characters are underdeveloped or don't have exaggerated personalities. This episode rebels from most first season episodes and is very clever, smart, and controversial. It also is the first episode which really starts to introduce and emphasize the individual character's personalities, as all of them were pretty much generic young adults. Dee becomes a hopeless high school wannabe to relive her glory days, Dennis talks about dating minors and finds himself dating an 18 year old,Charlie brings together young couples and listens to all the teens problems, and Mac walks around jealous and bitter(mac's personality before he became a religious, possibly gay white trash karate lover). All the characters have their own role and with their personalities it really enhances this episode, especially with all the jokes about teens, and serving them illegally for a profit and dating a chunk of them.

The show gets edgy for the first time, which the show doesn't do often unless it shows odd sexual scenes. It is seen as negative by most viewers but it gives it that TV-MA edge that the show needed. Dee is even seen with a dildo about to watch porn and dry humps an 18-year old. This episode is a great one to start from and still has those clever funny moments that you don't quite get with new episodes which feature jokes that are buried under the exaggerated outrageous personalities of the characters.

Indeed the best episode of Season 1

My overall rating of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"'s Season 1: 6/10

This episode really encapsulates the substance and style of what I like about the series so far in the most concentrated way. The performances are great, pretty much each joke or scene lands very well (bar, maybe, the house party?..), and attentive viewers will be rewarded with a few of the more subtle laughs. I'd also note this episode using the "setup - cut to punchline" editing a few times, which is a bit played out in sitcoms, but doesn't really spoil the jokes.

The gang are just pathetic in this episode
belinha-364155 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not my favorite episodes but it's crazy how stuck they are in their high school days, but sounds pretty normal to them trying to profit from minors.

The stuff with going out with them and being asked to prom just to be dumped was seriously one of the most pathetic things.

The Gang hangs out with High Schoolers
injury-6544710 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It's a cute idea for an episode but I didn't find it as funny as the first two episodes.

It's pretty funny to see them reliving their high school experiences and trying to reclaim something from their youth.

I feel that funnier things could have been done with the premise.

I think the whole time I was waiting for them to get busted or something - but it never happens. I would have liked to see some kind of interaction with the kids' parents or the police.
