"The Moving Finger" opens with Tony trying to sneak off on a 10 day business trip to Hollywood, to work as a technical consultant for a movie. Jeannie naturally insists on going along, particularly as glamorous starlet Rita Mitchell (Nancy Kovack) is currently on the prowl for husband number 7. Producer Henry Tracy (Woodrow Parfrey) describes the plot of the upcoming "Fantastic Voyage," about American scientists shrunk to microscopic size, injected into the blood stream of an ailing Russian scientist to perform a delicate operation inside the human body. Disguised as Tony's secretary, Jeannie accompanies her master to Rita's dinner party, accepting an offer from Tracy to do her own screen test. The projection room is the setting for dejection, as she learns to her regret that genies cannot be photographed, though her voice is heard. Future entries sometimes disregarded this idea, but it was revived for the fifth season's wedding episode.
