Larry Hagman was very hesitant about sitting next to Zamba the full grown African Lion. Barbara Eden, despite being pregnant at the time, had no trouble petting the beast during filming. Owned by Exotic animal trainer Ralph Helfer, the same lion also appeared in the opening credits of The Addams Family (1964). Zamba had also appeared on the Gilligan's Island episode "Feed the Kitty" (1966), where he took a flying leap at Bob Denver, but the animal's trainer caught him in mid-air before any harm was done.
Barbara says this was one of her most memorable episodes to film, mainly because of the lion at the end! Barbara had some experience around lions before so she was comfortable. Although she encouraged Larry to join her, he declined to be in any of the practice takes with the lion prior to filming. On the first take, the lion was not used to Larry so he let out a surprised (although not angry) roar which caused Larry and the entire film crew run for their lives! Even with Barbara being pregnant at the time, she did not run as she knew the lion was not intending any harm. The fleeing crew left so much mayhem, they had to take a break to reset the lighting and cameras before they could try another take.
The first episode Tony tells Jeannie how beautiful she is. It's also the first time he takes her out on a date.
