Return of the Shirt (#1.4)
ComedyFan20103 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Ted tries now to date a girl he dated 3 years ago and whom he dumped because he didn't want commitment. But it turns out that even though he wants commitment it isn't with her.

The episode isn't as extraordinary as previous two, but it is still very funny. The whole memory of how he broke up with her was pretty entertaining because of how awful it was. And the new break up conversation that ends up in her kicking his ass is also incredibly funny.

Besides that the small story of Barney paying Robin to say things on the news also brought lots of laughter

The One With The Birthday Breakup...

Warning: Spoilers
I really love this episode. It's really funny, and very enjoyable.

In this episode, Ted finds a shirt in his closet that he used to love, which he thinks looks great on him. So he decides to re-think some of his old decisions. Like breaking up with Natalie, an old girlfriend. Natalie doesn't want to forgive Ted for breaking up with her on her birthday, but ends up giving him a second chance. Which isn't great for Ted when he, once again, decides to break up with her, unfortunately, on her birthday. Meanwhile, Barney pays Robin to say hilarious, and inappropriate things while she broadcast live.

Best part of the episode: When Ted gets beat up by Natalie.

Overall, I give this episode a 9 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Amazing.

The Ickey Shuffle

Warning: Spoilers
Ted finds an old shirt that he's never cared for, but changes his tune when it makes him ooze confidence. During a discussion with the gang about past girlfriends, Ted brings up his ex Natalie, a girl he broke up with three years ago on her birthday by breaking up with her on an answering machine. Ted manages to persuade her with a giant sock monkey to give him another chance. Robin takes a bribe from Barney to say derogatory things on the air because she thinks nobody watches her show. Who in the world likes breakups? I don't think there is a person alive that enjoys the thought of dumping someone, unless you're a chauvinist. Breakups suck, especially if you're the one that has to say it's over. There is no decent way to say " I don't want to see you anymore" I like how they made light of this difficult situation. Anyway that has dealt with these situations will most likely garner a few laughs from this episode. My favorite moment is when Robin falls into horse crap. The only carp I have with this episode is the lack of storyline for Marshall & Lilly. They are in the background most of the time, offering up advice

Favorite quote. Barney: You dumped a porn star? A PORN STAR?! Friendship over!

Review of Season 1: Episodes 1-4

Greetings from Lithuania.

"How I Met Your Mother"(2005-2004) first four episodes were nice and sometimes good comedy. Downside for me that it was a bit to sweet, when it could be more fun, Actors were OK, with the best and the most funny one from Neil Patrick Harris. This is a sweet comedy, with some heart in a good place, but unfortunately that is sometimes (as in this case) aren't the best things to keep the comedy work. Don't saying you won't like it, but if you like more black humor, this one could look a bit to sweet.

Overall rating for episodes 1-4 is 8/10.

Never get back together with your old girlfriend or old boyfriend.

I know that Ted wanted to get back with one of his ex-girlfriends and renew the relationship. But to call off the relationship again, that's just asking for more trouble. I found myself in simlair situation. One time I got in contact with one of my ex-girlfriends and decided to fall in love with her. But then I had mixed feelings and remembering what she did to me in high school. So like Ted, I too had to call off the relationship. So I did. And suprisingly, she took it well but was a little livid with me. But it didn't bother me. I moved on and never heard from her afterwards.

Not As Good As Previous Episode
slightlymad2210 November 2014
Plot In A Paragraph: Ted (Josh Radnor) finds an old shirt that he never used to like but now he love and decides to try again with a girl that he once dated. Robin (Cobie Smulders) decides to make some money on the side by putting on a different show at Metro News One, by saying whatever Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) tells her to.

After the excellent last episode this was a drop in quality. It's not a bad episode, and it still has it's moments. Some of the things Barney gets Robin to say and do are pretty funny, But the last episode set the bar so high it didn't match it.

Favorite quote. Barney: You dumped a porn star? A PORN STAR?! Friendship over!
