What A Waste Of Neil Patrick Harris
slightlymad2210 November 2014
Plot In a Paragaph: Robin manages to get onto the guest list for OK, an exclusive nightclub. Ted and Barney will be going with her, but not Marshall and Lily, as they have been doing a lot of "Classy grown-up things".

After an episode heavily featuring Barney Stinson (The Brilliant Neil Patrick Harris) gave "How I Met Your Mother" it's best episode to date, the character has inexplicably been pushed in to the background in the last two episodes, in this one he spends almost the entire episode dancing with a girl in a nightclub. What a waste, the writers need to rectify this immediately.

Not a bad episode it had some good moments, mainly featuring Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan. And of course in his brief time on screen Neil Patrick Harris delivers.

Warning: Spoilers
Robin manages to get into OK, a very posh nightclub for hip people. Ted and Barney are psyched about the idea and decided to attend, but Marshall and Lilly make a promise to one another that they will start being more mature for more "grown up" things. Marshall is miserable and finds Lilly's friends to be deadening to the point where Marshall escapes through the bathroom window to party with Ted and Barney at the club. Lilly gets bored herself, but when she discovers that Marshall escaped, she heads out after him to the club. Meanwhile, Ted has trouble communicating with Robin's friend Kelly because of how loud the music is, Barney dances with a woman who leads to an unforgettable embarrassment. This is a very entertaining episode. It rings true about clubs. It's fun for younger adults, but holds little of interest for people over 25, a lot of the time anyway. Marshal and Lilly's had a lot of truth to it as well. Women want to make an impression amongst their snobby friends and they start acting like them. I would totally be in Marshall's shoes. My only carp is that Ted and Robin are relegated to the back-burner somewhat, as is Barney to a certain degree. They have their own story lines, but they weren't fleshed out enough for me. It is never fully explained how Marshall got rid of his toothache either

Okay Awesome (#1.5)

Warning: Spoilers
Another absolutely great episode exploring the issues of people in their late 20's such as going to a club that is not all that fun and having to do grown up evenings that are even less fun. But the way they showed it to us was definitely fun for the viewers.

I was laughing my ass off through most of the scenes. Like Ted trying to talk to the girl he was dancing with while the music was loud and then starting to yell out crazy stuff that she got to hear when it was quiet for a second. Or another amazing scene when Barney realizes that the girl he was grinding with all night was his cousin.

Marchall and Lily also brought a lot of laughter. The way Marshall was suffering through wine tasting and saying things that made situation awkward. Ir how him and later Lily got out of the window to run to the club. Lily's quick waking up in the cab was also fun. More of such episodes please!

The One With The Wine Tasting...

Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely love this episode. It's hilarious, I love the guest stars, I love the inside jokes, and I just love everything about it.

In this episode, Robin manages to get into a hip, new nightclub called OK. Marshall, and Lily decide to stay in, and have a more adult evening with some of their couples friends. They're having a wine tasting, but eventually, they sneak out of their bathroom window, to find the rest of the gang at the club. Meanwhile, at OK, Robin was meant to be able to get into the VIP room, but can't, and when she goes outside to see Lily, she's unable to get back into the club, because Robin Scherbatsky has already been ticked off the list. Barney dances with a girl who ends up being his cousin, and Ted meets a nice girl, and never sees her again.

Fun Fact: Samm Levine, who starred alongside Jason Segal in Freaks And Geeks, sees Marshall, and says he looks familiar. I love inside jokes.

Best part of the episode: Everything.

Guest starring: Samm Levine, Jayma Mays

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking Ridonkulous.

Barney ending up grinding with a girl who turned out to be his cousin in the club, which was hilarious! (Mouths) "Robin Scherbatski" Nope! "Robin Scherbatski!" Not on the list lol unlucky robin, didn't think she would have needed to flash her 'boobies' to get by the bouncers. Oh, Marshall's escape (by jumping out of his third floor window lol) to getting into the club, then somehow persisting to dance with a toothache (losing his tooth later onas well) was also funny. Lastly Ted making a fool out of himself by yelling "I WET MYSELF!" (something like that) when he was dancing wit robin's hott-ish friend which was heard by everybody on the floor as the music stopped at that exact moment. TOP EPISODE!!!
