Great
torben-2631 August 2006
I started watching How I Met Your Mother almost accidentally while I was looking for a new comedy series, especially after the end of Friends. While it I found this series average first, I somehow began to love this show without really noticing. After about 5-10 episodes I noticed that I was very excited about new episodes and that's when it was clear: This is new major comedy.

The episode "Game Night" is my famous episode of the first season, mostly because of the huge portion of Neil Patrick Harris, who really delivers the best performance in this series and who is - in my opinion - an underestimated actor. I really can't believe that he was not even nominated for an Emmy.

This is (in my opinion) the best episode of HIMYM to date, chased by other great episodes like "The Pineapple incident" and "Come On".

If you are a fan of HIMYM and missed this episode: Find a way to watch it! It's really worth it.

Nei Patrick Harris Is Again the Star
slightlymad2217 November 2014
For some reason this has a much shorter intro, no photos are showed, just the how's title flying to the screen.

Plot In A Paragraph: The gang gets to meet Victoria during a game night. But the night takes a funny turn when Barney's former love Shannon gives an old tape to Lily which shows the "real" Barney. While watching the tape an embarrassed Barney storms out. When he returns, Barney tells a story about what made him the person he is today. To tell the full story, he blackmails all others into telling their most embarrassing stories.

Whilst I enjoyed seeing Victoria (Ashely Williams) again, and I'm really rooting for them as a couple, this episode is all about Barney Stinson. Once again Neil Patrick Harris delivers the goods as Barney. We learn how he got his catchphrase "Suit Up" when he's handed a flier advertising suits. A pattern had emerged on this show that the best episodes feature Neil Patrick Harris's Barney Stinson heavily. Oh how the Emmys have robbed that man.

The transformation scene is hilarious.

One part I didn't like was the montage at the end, showing that despite the awesomeness of Victoria, Ted is still obsessed with doing things for Robin (and he keeps it a secret from Victoria)

Game Night (#1.15)

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is very fun as it tells us more about barney and why he is the way he is. I had a slightly bad feeling about it, it kind of reminds me of the guys who started hating women and sit online talking about it all day because of a failed relationship. But then, Barney isn't really like them, he is actually awesome. Then it kind of felt sad that he changed himself so much just because of one woman. Still it is hilarious how she recognizes that his life is so much better than it could have been. And it indeed is. Money, sex and fun are waaaaay better than some babies!.

It is also great with Ted revealing his story as it sure will play a part in his and Victoria's relationship. And the ones off Marshall and Lily were indeed too funny.

"Game Night: An Unforgettable HIMYM Episode that Hits All the Right Notes"
xenn03212 July 2023
Game Night is a great episode of How I Met Your Mother that combines humor, drama, and heart. The episode centers around a game night that the gang has with Ted's new girlfriend, Victoria. Marshall takes it upon himself to create a new game called "Marshgammon," which is essentially a drinking game designed to get to know Victoria better.

One of the things that makes Game Night such a great episode is the way it handles the balance between humor and drama. The episode is funny, but it also has some serious moments that allow the characters to grow and develop. For example, Barney's story about Shannon is both funny and heartbreaking, and it helps us to understand why he is the way he is.

Overall, Game Night is a funny, heartwarming, and well-written episode of How I Met Your Mother. It's a great example of the show's ability to blend humor and drama, and it's one of the best episodes of the first season.
