This is an undisputed classic. After failing to get Ed or Alice to invest in his friend's invention, a set of gadgets for the kitchen, Ralph takes the promotion of it to television. In about ten minutes of the funniest stuff you will ever see, he and his dippy friend do a commercial. Of course, there is no question it will be a disaster. They rehearse (which doesn't work so well) and then are put in front of the camera. Ralph goes from nervous to catatonic. The timing and visuals are sensational. Don't miss this one because it gives us everything these two comic geniuses have.

Ralph and Norton are great in this episode Which in my opinion is the funniest of the 39 I'm sure Ralph And Norton did not sell many of the Gilhoolie Jar Opener knockoffs But they were absolutely hilarious in their efforts!

Marvin Marx wrote this iconic episode, perhaps one of the greatest tv sitcom episodes of all time. So fondly remembered by all of us kids. Marx wrote tons of material for Jackie Gleason, also for Joey Bishop and Betty Hutton.
Ralph and Norton go on tv, and with yet another get rich quick scheme. You have to admit one thing. As far as goofy sitcom ideas go, and not necessarily with the HONEYMOONERS, most are outrageous and would never ordinarily work. However, there's a method to the madness here because it's a possibility that Ralph and Norton could have FINALLY latched onto a money-making idea! That's really the wonder of this story, the little guy getting a piece of that elusive pie.
Ralph finds a box containing a bunch of left over combo bottle, can and whatever openers that could be put to practical use? Dump 'em... or why not advertise on tv? And during reruns of Charlie Chan! What better time to advertise while everyone's trying to figure out whodunit.
The guys get the airtime, and a spiffy looking kitchen set. Art Carney is laugh out loud hilarious playing the host, busy cooking dinner and ready to introduce Jackie Gleason's outrageous "chef of the future." Everything that could go wrong, goes wrong and it's must see tv for the shear lunacy. This is what made Jackie a household name, and an inspiration to so many comics.
You really feel sorry for Ralph, and watch him slam BANG into one of the fake walls as the whole set implodes!
If you haven't seen this, watch it for its historical significance and a tribute to two masters of comedy. It's also the reason why Jackie Gleason confessed many years later, that the biggest mistake of his career was that he did not produce a second season of episodes. Imagine what they could have done?
Marx quite possibily could have lifted the whole idea from I LOVE LUCY, the wacky episode where Lucy and Ethel market salad dressing on tv. Sound familiar? And that has since become a sitcom classic.
