Obsession, a cup of coffee and hypnotism
coltras3513 June 2022
Jennifer returns to prep school, well only for a reunion with her classmates. One of them is Ford, who was a geeky kid with the hots for her ( who wouldn't have hots for Jennifer). And he still has hots for her, and he will try and get her at any costs. First he needs to get rid of Jonathan, and he starts by using hypnosis. This is a solid episode with the usual fun elements, but it also touches up on school reunions and how time flies by. But Ford still harbours a resentment for people bullying him. You sort of feel sorry for him at times. It all ends with a good climax.

How about a Third Cup of Coffee?
HilaryElizabeth917 April 2009
Another hypnosis episode as J&J travel to Boston for Jennifer's prep school reunion. Unfortunately, my local channel left out eight episodes in running these, and one of them was "Hart of Diamonds," where Jennifer is the one who was hypnotized. Since I don't have that one to compare this to, I'm not sure if I'd feel the same way, but I really loved this episode from the word go. Seems an old schoolmate had the hots for Jen and is now obsessed with her, and tries to off Jonathan to have her for himself. This was a big episode, big budget with a lot of good performances in small guest roles. I loved the writing and direction. Like, the very regular, organic conversation between Jonathan and Ford by the coffee station at the reunion. Great writing, better delivery. In fact, the whole exchange between RJ and the guest actor, Kip Niven, was fantastic. RJ turned in a nice performance in this one. And Stefanie owned the room during the climactic scene at the end with Jennifer and Ford. Also enjoyed in a very geeky fangirl kind of way the old high school photo of Stefanie. In case viewers are unaware, we learn that her maiden name is Edwards.

Ford Could Have Won Jennifer

Warning: Spoilers
Really enjoyed this episode. It was unique, held my interest. It was fun seeing Jonathan get hypnotized for a change. This episode also stars Gwynne Gilford who has been married to the successful actor Robert Pine since the 60's and is the mother of actor Chris Pine. There was one flaw that I found in this episode, but I suppose they wouldn't have had a show in the following week of the writers took this route. When Jonathan and Ford are fighting at the end and Jonathan is inches from falling off the cliff, all Ford would have had to do was say, "How about a third cup of coffee?" and Jonathan would have walked off that cliff if he was told to. Ford missed his chance to win Jennifer's heart (no pun intended... maybe) but I was happy to see Jonathan and Jennifer reunited.
