  Margaret Brewer : I have to get to the bottom of this. I have to know the truth. And I have a feeling the truth is in the basement.

• Margaret Brewer : [the next morning, Dr. Brewer who has no hair due to the plant sticking on his hair, and his family are helping Dr. Marek pack his things after he was locked up in the basement alongside Dr. Brewer]  I still don't understand how the whole thing started.

  Dr. Brewer : [Exhaling]  Well, it was an accident. I cut my hand on a slide, and some of my blood mixed in with some plant molecules, and I ended up with something that was part plant and part human.

  Mrs. Brewer : You never told me any of this.

  Dr. Brewer : Yeah, I know. I should've. But I was wrapped up in my work. Then I went too far. I created a plant that was an exact copy of me.

  Margaret Brewer : Except that it was evil.

  Dr. Brewer : Well, to us, yes. But like most organisms, it wanted to dominate its environment. It overpowered me. And I think that it wanted to make plant copies of us all.
