Warning: Spoilers
"Cousin Cleatus" opens with the Evans family trying out a new stereo that promptly causes a blackout, followed by a surprise visit from a pair of FBI agents looking for Florida's nephew Cleatus Jackson (John-Anthony Bailey), whom she has known since he was a child. Michael knows all about Cleatus, working on behalf of the poor for the Black Falcons, but now he's a prime suspect in an Atlanta bank robbery that netted $25,000. Only after the authorities leave does a mysterious kid (Edward Crawford, later seen in part 2 of "JJ's Fiancée") knock on the Evans door, a lookout for the exhausted Cleatus, on the run and looking for a decent night's rest. It's not long before we learn that he's every bit as guilty as charged, holding Michael hostage at gunpoint until the ill fated stereo offers James the chance to save his family from harm. The climax comes when Cleatus tries to defend his actions by asking his aunt if she knows what's it's like to scrounge for every penny, receiving a very audible head slap from the defiant James: "we so rich we don't know...what the hell would we know about being poor?" (one of the show's single greatest moments).
