The policeman tells Sgt. Carter to move his jeep because it's in a loading zone, or it will be ticketed. Government vehicles are exempt from civilian law enforcement tickets.
After the crooks are caught, the sheriff returns the stolen $1,600 to Gomer, and says they'll contact him when the case goes to court. In real life, the stolen money would be held as evidence until after the criminal trial.
Since Gomer only has a seven day leave, it seems unlikely that he would take a bus from southern California to North Carolina, as a bus trip of that length would take at least 3 days there and three days back, so that at most he would only have around a day or so to take care of his business buying the gas station.
