The Golden Girls meet Cecil Colby.
mark.waltz15 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The suave Lloyd Bochner guest stars as the first of two "Golden Girls" characters, an actor named Patrick Vaughan who is appearing in a community theater production of a play spoofing "Picnic". Bochner is very funny, romancing everyone with the exception of Sophia, and that leads to a very funny on-stage confrontation. Janet Carroll, as the play's leading lady, is of course best known for playing Jim's wife, Doris, on "Murphy Brown". Rue McClanahan steals the audition sequence with an obvious costume addition, and Bea is very funny when she dones the sheriff costume. Bochner is able to make his character charming even if his playboy antics don't make him the brightest light in the theater rafters.

Romancing The Girls.

The girls are super excited to learn that charming and charismatic actor Patrick Vaughn is in town playing in the local theatre, they're all keen to play his leading lady.

Cracking episode, this is such a funny watch, the girls are all on great form, they're all in love, unfortunately it's with the same man.

Plenty of funny sequences, it all kicks off with Sophia in her outfit, and they continue the whole way through. The sequences on the stage were so funny.

Credit to Lloyd Bochner, he was terrific as the flirtatious Casanova of the piece, he clearly had an eye for The Ladies, and a lot of energy. What a fabulous speaking voice, as smooth as silk.b

Very funny.

8/10.

The Actor (#2.14)

Warning: Spoilers
The girls' community theatre is having a play and they get a famous actor to be a lead role in it. He also ends up dating the three of them behind each other's back. And as they find out later he did the same with all the other women who participate in the production and call him out on stage.

It wasn't the funniest episode, but it had good moments. The best one is the calling him out on stage with "You slept with the sheriff?" and Blanche saying they need a rope to hang him.

I also liked Sophia in her pirate outfit. Her getting her sable out to fight Dorothy was a funny moment.
