Warning: Spoilers
Between being reunited with Sal in heaven or being saved by Rose while choking, Sophia would almost rather prefer dancing on a cloud and polishing the pearly gates then remaining behind to have to thank a dipstick. But this gives Sophia a new lease on life, and she decides to take a bunch of ridiculous risks, which includes jumping into a bale of hay when they all visit Blanche's grandmother's house which is about to be torn down. Blanche refuses to see it torn down and handcuffs herself to a radiator. Rose steals a gag from "Designing Women" (Suzanne's name game song), and later frustrates Dorothy with the ending of the "Hundred Bottles of Beer" song on the way back. This is profound as far as Blanche's love for her family history is concerned, and the seeming existence of her grandmother's spirit. One is it better episodes of the show's final season.

Warning: Spoilers
Sophia has a near death experience and ends up in the white light with Sal. But God sends her back because it is not her time yet. After that she is not afraid to die anymore. And Blanche finds out hat her grandmother's plantation will be blown up. She goes to say good bye to the place but can't leave because she feels the spirit of her grandmother there.

Not that I care for the nonsense of having a rational character like Dorothy suddenly consider herself close minded because she doesn't believe in nonsense. But the episode was still pretty sweet and the message to just let people believe what they want to believe (at least in cases as in that episode where they don't harm anybody) is fine with me.

It's a great episode

Complaining about a show that aired 40 years ago isn't a review, it's a whine. Almost every single person involved is dead. Blanche was a spoilt pain in the arse throughout the entire series! It's perfectly natural she would behave like a baby in this one. She's obsessed with her past, her heritage and possessions. New Arthur left due to to a battle with breast cancer. Not because you think the season sucked.

Really One Of The Worst Episodes In The Series
ecspringer-8475920 June 2021
A grown woman, such as Blanche, holding on to a memory of a grandmother is not so wrong, but to act childish about it in her 60s is quite sad! Sophia claims she goes to heaven in the beginning of the episode should have been the focus of this particular episode, but instead we get crazy situations of Dorothy doing a bad imitation of a southern woman, Rose falls and acts dingier than ever in any episode of the series! Salvador makes an appearance twice in the episode, and the first time, Sophia acts like she doesn't recognize her own husband, which is crazy as well, Sophia may have recovered from a stroke when the series started, but she always recognized her beloved Salvador...in my opinion, the 7th season is the worst and it is so easy to see why Bea Arthur was ready to end the series.
