Nothing to Fear, But Fear Itself (#3.5)

Warning: Spoilers
Rose's aunt dies and she has to give an eulogy. She is afraid to do it as she is scared of public speaking. By going with her Dorothy and Blanche have to face their own fears. Dorothy that of flying and Blanche the scary dream she always had when she was stuck with bald men in a small place since all men on the plane were bald!.

Another episode with lots of funny moments. I just couldn't help but laugh with Blanche and Rose when they imagine Dorothy to be naked and burst with laughter.

And the scene on the plane is pretty awesome as well. Great acting and great lines.

Laugh out loud moments throughout.

Rose's Aunt Gretchen dies, and she is asked to give the eulogy at her funeral, naturally the girls accompany her to Hawaii, only Dorothy is terrified by the thought of flying.

This is one of those episodes with some belly laugh moments, the first being that moment where Dorothy calls Blanche fat, the second that hilarious scene where Blanche and Rose chuckle about imagining Dorothy naked, and best of all, that moment on the plane, which is agonisingly funny.

This third series has so far been incredible, I didn't think series two could have been bettered, but who knows, at this rate the show just seems to be getting better and better.

The acting was joyful here, Rue McClanahan in particular was sublime here.

8/10.

Fear strikes out.

Warning: Spoilers
When Rose has to give a speech at her aunt's funeral, Dorothy and Blanche agree to go with her to help her face her fears. They end up facing their own fears with Dorothy admitting she is afraid of flying and Blanche living out a recurring nightmare involving an enclosed space filled with bald men. This has many funny moments although I feel guilty laughing at Dorothy in the scene where Rose and Blanche imagine her naked, especially when she stands up and storms off as they point and laugh at her back end. Then there's her response to Blanche revealing what she would say at her funeral. Veteran actress Meg Wyllie makes the first of four appearances (all different characters) as the elderly stewardess "Candy", basically stealing that scene. It's practically perfect with the entire script hysterically funny and everybody in rare form.
