The mother of a solid gold dancer dates a priest.

Warning: Spoilers
Broadway veteran John McMartin guest stars as teacher Frank Layhee who black shirt and white collar isn't a Nehru jacket. This leads to a lot of confusion and mixed signals thanks to missed information and shows Dorothy at her funniest, sweetest, and most vulnerable. McMartin and Bea Arthur have great chemistry and play off each other beautifully, and the other three ladies have funny reactions as well, especially Rose whose little speech upon meeting him makes a complete fool out of her. This is one of the better episodes that shows Dorothy in a variety of ways that prove why she was the best conceived character on the show with every aspect of her quite unique personality.

A very, very funny episode.

Dorothy is smitten with colleague Frank Leahy, the girls convince her to invite him around to dinner, unbeknown to Dorothy his title is Father Frank Leahy.

Make the wrong decision, and you'll be urn in Hell forever.

Another of those wonderfully unique episodes, so different, so funny, but heart warming in equal measures.

Every single character is put to good use, and delivers the laughs, it's one of those where I think Blanche was the standout, her timing, her movement, everything was on point.

There are some tremendous, funny scenes here, I think my favourite moment coming where Blanche pretends to be Dorothy, asking for a date, the look on Bea Arthur's face is a joy fest, she doesn't flinch.

Sophia's confession, I had to rewatch it, I belly laughed.

8/10.

Forgive Me, Father (#2.18)

Warning: Spoilers
Dorothy likes the new teacher in the school and decides to ask him out for dinner at her place. But when he arrives everyone is shocked because he is a priest. After having a nice evening together, he tells Dorothy that she has inspired him to leave church. This leads to another misunderstanding because girls see it as him wanting to leave priesthood for love.

A pretty funny episode with a good story. Blanche was especially funny. I loved her conversation with the priest when he comes it and she is all blabbering because she is so shocked.

Sophia lecturing the priest in the confession booth was another great moment.
