She flinched!
ISmellSnow11 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode! Stars Hollow is hosting another wacky festival. Lorelai and Rory both participate. Lorelai tries not to flinch (like last time) but gets a call from Sookie that she's going into labor! Gil is offered to be in Hep Alien

Stars Hollow nails it

Warning: Spoilers
A classic Gilmore girls episode.

Taylor is absolutely on form in this episode arranging the festival of living pictures, along with his sidekicks Miss Patty and Kirk. It's the secondary characters that made this show such a gem and they all shine here.

Despite other reviewers sensitivities, this episode is good fun (it's entertainment - don't expect PC perfection) and I enjoyed the bands reaction to the older Gil rocking up (literally) for the audition, and Lorelais reaction to Sookie wanting a home birth with her extremely odd pseudo nurse.

Well done to the wardrobe department - all the paintings and costumes looked amazing!

Ageism Is Alive and Well in Lilly White Stars Hollow
myronlearn24 February 2021
Ageism rears it's ugly head in the form of Zack and Brian's rampage about Gil, the musician seeking to join their broken down band. As it turns out, Gil, played by real life guitarist Sebastian Bach, can play them both under the table. Ultimately Lane came to Gil's rescue, perhaps understanding prejudice herself, and in so doing helped create a far better sound by allowing him to join. Diversity and tolerance are not exactly Star Hollow's middle names.

TOXIC
shoppingcelina6 September 2022
The commentary on homebirth being horrifying is absolutely awful. Homebirth is the most natural thing possible. Depicting homebirth as horrifying is irresponsible. Medicalized birth is the horrifying thing. Abuse happens in medicalized delivery system everyday and shows like this are what push women into that abusive system. Television shows that are aimed at women and girls should hold more responsibility for depicting birth as a positive thing. Depicting natural birth as horrible and disgusting further degrades women. This show overall is degrading to women. Can't believe a woman was responsible for creating this shoe and I feel bad for the women who think the same way as she does.
